I am currently working on behalf of one of the two large global catastrophe risk consultancy providers in London. They are looking for a Senior Catastrophe Research Associate with a special expertise in meteorology or hydrology.

Responsibilities include own research and the potential development of tools and models to solve problems on bespoke basis directly for clients and as part of the company’s wider model development as well as creating and presenting presentations to clients.

The ideal candidate has a strong educational background (Masters at a minimum, PhD a major bonus) in meteorology or hydrology and about 3 years of work experience in either the insurance/catastrophe risk space or as an meteorologist/hydrologist. The company also requires the candidate to have strong analytical and quantitative skills and advanced knowledge of R, Matlab, C++, etc. SQL and ArcGIS experience is a major plus as well exposure to CATRADER or Touchstone. They will consider outstanding candidates starting from 1+ years of experience.
